2022 Mourvèdre ESTATE BOTTLED | RED MOUNTAIN

Our winemaking team cherishes this 3.8-acre Heart of the Hill Mourvèdre planting as one of their in-house favorites year after year. The thick-skinned, late-ripening cultivar thrives on Red Mountain, where we craft it into a lively, medium-bodied wine with brilliant purity and freshness.

While it doesn’t enjoy mainstream awareness in the US wine market, Mourvèdre nonetheless plays an important role in some of the world’s most celebrated bottlings - fans of French Bandol and Spanish Monastrell know how delicious the grape can be. We initially planted Mourvèdre in 2006 as a traditional (and intriguing!) blending component with Syrah, but the reality is that it deserves top billing in its own wine - it’s simply too good to blend away into a different cuvée year after year.
